Used Bower 28mm f/3.5 Lens for Leica M
The Bower 28mm f/3.5 is a compact manual focus wide-angle prime lens for Leica-mount rangefinder cameras, produced by the Japanese optical manufacturer Y.K. Optical under several brand names depending on region and distributor, including Bower, Kobalux, Avenon, and Pasoptik. Part of the broader "M1-Series" of budget-friendly rangefinder lenses, it offers a genuinely compact alternative to first-party Leica 28mm optics, with the tradeoff of a more modest f/3.5 maximum aperture in exchange for smaller size and a lower price point.
The optical formula consists of 6 elements in 4 groups, a relatively simple design consistent with the lens's compact, lightweight construction. The focus ring is engraved with distance markings in both feet and meters alongside a depth-of-field scale for zone-focusing techniques, and a focusing tab allows for quick, tactile distance adjustments. As a Leica-mount lens, it can be used natively on Leica M-mount rangefinder bodies or, if built in Leica Thread Mount, adapted to M-mount cameras with a simple LTM-to-M adapter ring.
