Used 7Artisans 35mm f/2 Lens for Leica M
The 7Artisans 35mm f/2 is a compact manual focus wide-angle prime for Leica M-mount rangefinder and mirrorless cameras, marketed under 7Artisans' "DJ-Optical" branding. Employing a Sonnar-type optical design, the lens favors high sharpness, strong contrast, and excellent flare resistance, giving it a rendering character distinct from the more common double-Gauss formulas found in many other 35mm rangefinder lenses. The comfortably wide field of view combined with the bright f/2 maximum aperture makes it a practical everyday walkaround lens, offering both meaningful depth-of-field control and usable low-light performance.
The optical formula consists of 7 elements in 5 groups, and a 10-blade diaphragm produces smooth, pleasing bokeh at wider apertures. Engraved depth-of-field and focus distance scales on the all-metal barrel support zone-focus shooting, and the lens is fully rangefinder-coupled with a 2.3ft (0.7m) minimum focus distance. As a 6-bit coded lens, it communicates lens data to compatible digital Leica M bodies for automatic lens correction and EXIF recording. The lens was entirely designed and manufactured in China.
