Used Sigma 17-40mm f/1.8 DC Art Lens for Sony E
The Sigma 17-40mm F1.8 DC Art is an APS-C standard zoom for Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras, maintaining a constant f/1.8 aperture throughout its entire focal range, a first-of-its-kind combination that expands on the legacy of Sigma's 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM Art, the original F1.8 zoom lens. Covering 25.5-60mm in full-frame equivalent terms, the lens is over 30% lighter than its predecessor at 525g while offering a wider zoom range, giving photographers the light-gathering power and rendering character of a prime lens with the flexibility of a zoom. Fast, quiet autofocus is driven by Sigma's HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) linear motor, and an inner zoom and internal focus design keep the lens length constant throughout both zooming and focusing.
The optical formula consists of 17 elements in 11 groups incorporating 4 SLD (Special Low Dispersion) and 4 aspherical elements to control chromatic aberration and coma flare while maintaining high resolution wide open. An 11-blade rounded diaphragm produces smooth bokeh, and Sigma's Super Multi-Layer Coating minimizes flare and ghosting in backlit conditions. The lens maintains a 28cm minimum focus distance across the entire zoom range, reaching a 1:4.8 maximum magnification ratio at 40mm. A physical aperture ring includes both a click switch for stepped or stepless operation and a lock switch to prevent accidental changes, and two customizable AFL buttons are supported on compatible Sony bodies. Dust- and splash-resistant construction is paired with a water- and oil-repellent coating on the front element.
