Used Sigma 10-18mm f/2.8 DC DN Contemporary Lens for Sony E
The Sigma 10-18mm F2.8 DC DN Contemporary is an ultra-wide-angle zoom lens for APS-C Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras, marketed as the world's smallest and lightest F2.8 zoom lens for the format at just 72.2mm in diameter, 64mm in length, and 255g. Covering a 15-27mm full-frame equivalent focal range with a constant f/2.8 maximum aperture throughout, the lens is well suited to travel, vlogging, interior, and landscape photography where both a wide field of view and consistent low-light performance are priorities. When paired with Sigma's 18-50mm f/2.8 DC DN Contemporary, the two lenses together cover a continuous 15-75mm equivalent range at a combined weight of roughly 515g.
The optical formula consists of 13 elements in 10 groups, including 3 FLD (F Low Dispersion) elements, 1 SLD (Special Low Dispersion) element, and 4 aspherical elements. An aspherical concave element with a large refractive index is used as the first lens element, reducing the total element count in that group and helping keep the overall lens length short. A 7-blade rounded diaphragm supports smooth bokeh, and a fast AF stepping motor with minimal focus breathing makes the lens well suited to gimbal-mounted video work in addition to stills. The lens reaches an 11.6cm minimum focus distance at the wide end for a 1:4 maximum magnification ratio, and Sigma's newly developed push-on petal lens hood attaches via a spring-and-lever mechanism rather than the traditional twist-on bayonet design. The lens mount incorporates rubber sealing for dust and moisture resistance.
