The Nikon AF-S VR Micro-Nikkor 105mm f/2.8G IF-ED is a medium telephoto macro lens built for full-frame Nikon F-mount DSLRs, also compatible with DX-format bodies at a 157.5mm equivalent focal length. It offers 1:1 life-size magnification with a comfortable working distance, making it well suited to macro subjects, product photography, and portraiture alike.
The optical design uses 14 elements in 12 groups, including one ED glass element and one Nano Crystal Coat element, to control chromatic aberration and reduce flare and ghosting. A Silent Wave Motor delivers fast, quiet autofocus with full-time manual override, and Vibration Reduction helps counter camera shake for handheld shooting. A nine-blade rounded diaphragm contributes to smooth out-of-focus rendering, and internal focusing keeps the lens length fixed while focusing.
