Used Minolta AF 50mm f/1.7 Lens
The Minolta AF 50mm f/1.7 is a fast standard prime lens for Minolta AF and Sony Alpha mount 35mm SLR and DSLR cameras, and one of the original 12 autofocus lenses introduced alongside the Maxxum/Dynax 7000 in 1985, the first mass-market autofocus SLR system. The 50mm focal length remains one of the most versatile and natural perspectives in photography, and the f/1.7 maximum aperture allows for handheld shooting in dim indoor conditions without pushing ISO. A built-in retractable lens hood slides out from the focus ring, though it offers limited flare protection in practice.
The optical formula uses a classic double Gauss design with 6 elements in 5 groups, and a 7-blade aperture diaphragm provides pleasant out-of-focus rendering, particularly in the f/2 to f/16 range. The lens body is constructed of plastic over a metal mount and internal structure, keeping weight low at 186g while maintaining durability. Autofocus performance remains reliable by modern standards, and the lens is compatible with Minolta AF/Sony A-mount film and digital SLR bodies without an adapter, or with Sony E/FE mirrorless bodies via an LA-EA2 or LA-EA4 adapter for continued autofocus operation.
